Policies
De-matting, fleas, and aggressive dogs
If a dog is brought to us with a matted coat, our policy is to clip the coat short using an appropriate blade. Attempting to de-matt a coat can cause unnecessary pain and stress for the dog, and we believe clipping is the kinder and safer option. This approach ensures we act in line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
If you are aware that your dog has fleas before an appointment, please do not attend. Instead, contact us to cancel and rearrange. Should fleas be discovered during the groom, a £10 surcharge will apply to cover the cost of the deep cleaning required.
If a dog becomes aggressive during grooming, we may use a muzzle to ensure the safety of both your pet and our staff. Any behavioural concerns must be disclosed at the time of booking. For safety reasons, we are unable to accept dogs that are known to display aggressive behaviour. We also reserve the right to stop a groom at any time if we feel it has become unsafe to continue.
Health
All health issues or concerns must be communicated at the time of booking, as grooming can be stressful for dogs with certain medical conditions. If your dog is unwell, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can rearrange your appointment.
We do not groom pregnant dogs. If this information is not disclosed at the time of booking and complications arise, we cannot be held liable.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, we may need to seek veterinary attention for your dog. All reasonable attempts will be made to contact you in such circumstances.
Vaccinations
All dogs must be fully up to date with their vaccinations before we can complete their groom. Puppies must have received their second vaccinations prior to attending Charlotte's Soapy Pups. While a strict cleaning process is carried out between each groom, we cannot accept responsibility for any illnesses your dog may contract.
First-time clients
All first-time clients are required to complete a consent form for their dog at the commencement of their appointment. All relevant policies and disclaimers must be provided in writing and signed.
Data protection
All personal data will be protected and will not be shared with any third parties, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Payment
We accept cash and all major credit or debit cards. Payment is required in full before leaving the salon at the conclusion of your appointment.
Anal glands and ear plucking
Anal gland expression and ear plucking are not offered at Charlotte's Soapy Pups, as these are now regarded as veterinary procedures.
